Biography

Jamal Hassan Mohamoud is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher specializing in Public Health at SIMAD University, Mogadishu, Somalia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Shendi University, Sudan, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from North South University. With 9 years of experience in academia and research, Jamal has made significant contributions to the field of public health. His research spans several key areas, including disease prevention, epidemiology, public health systems, and healthcare delivery in low-resource settings. Jamal has authored 23 publications that explore critical issues such as COVID-19 vaccine coverage, dengue fever prevention, and the prevalence of prediabetes among university students and staff in Mogadishu. His scholarly work is widely recognized, with more than 68 citations and an h-index of 4.
In addition to his publications, Jamal has been awarded six research grants, further cementing his commitment to advancing public health knowledge. He is actively engaged in collaborative projects, including a notable partnership between SIMAD University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This collaboration aims to address pressing health challenges both in Somalia and on a global scale.
