Political Science and International Relations

Program Objectives:

The Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences, SIMAD University is a five-year, trimester-based undergraduate degree that explores the theory and practice of politics at local, national, and global levels. It provides students with a deep understanding of political institutions, public policy, governance, diplomacy, and global affairs. Students will engage with key political concepts such as power, sovereignty, justice, conflict, and cooperation. The program examines both domestic political systems and international dynamics, including foreign policy, international law, global security, human rights, and the roles of international organizations. Through critical analysis, research, and debate, students develop strong skills in communication, argumentation, policy analysis, and ethical reasoning—preparing them for careers in public service, diplomacy, NGOs, journalism, or further academic study.

Program Objectives

The goal of the Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations is to improve political and International Relations studies by fostering and expanding knowledge and originality for the good of the community.Additionally, it seeks to maintain, advance, and spread political and international relations knowledge and culture through instruction, scholarship, and research.in particular, the program is aimed to:

  1. Give students access to excellent teaching in the fields of political science and international
    relations.
  2. Provide students a platform to develop their potential so they can become vibrant leaders of
    the future.
  3.  Serve as a resource to provide policy-making organizations with the necessary information
    based on debates, seminars, and conferences

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
Graduates of the program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of key concepts, theories, and approaches in political
    science and international relations.
  2. Identify the roles and functions of domestic and international institutions, including states,
    IGOs, NGOs, and civil society.
  3. Analyze complex political and international issues using appropriate theoretical frameworks.
  4. Understand and interpret data from political and global sources, including treaties,
    constitutions, and statistical information.
  5. Design and conduct independent research using qualitative and/or quantitative methods.
  6. Locate, assess, and synthesize academic and policy-oriented literature.
  7. Communicate effectively in written, oral, and digital formats with diverse academic and
    professional audiences.
  8. Demonstrate ethical awareness and responsibility in analyzing and addressing political and
    international issues.
  9. Recognize the importance of human rights, democracy, and sustainability in global
    governance.
  10. Apply political and international knowledge to real-world challenges in public service,
    diplomacy, policy, or civil society.
